Candle Care

Your candle needs a little love

With a little tender love and care, you can make sure your candle burns cleanly for its whole life.
Every candle is designed a little differently so read on for the perfect Candelle experience.

Before your first burn

Wick trimming: The ideal height is about ⅛ inch above the wax. Even trimming your wick during your burn will help your candle burn efficiently and avoid mushrooming, which can lead to excess soot on your vessel and in your home. Just be sure to let your candle cool down completely before attempting any cuts.

Important: Your first burn should be at least 4 hours (and ~3 hours thereafter). When you light your candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the entire surface of wax has melted (it will take at least 4 hours, but if you have the time 5 hours is ideal, depending on your elevation, humidity, etc) — this will prevent tunneling and memory rings. This is the most important candle care recommendation!

After your first burn

Keep your burn to about 2-3 hours. Once your candle has only about ½ inch of wax left in the vessel, it’s time to retire it, clean out the wax, and give your vessel a new life.

Remember your vessel is dishwasher safe. Order your next Candelle candle to experience a different clean scent and vessel!

Keep it clean, keep it safe

Keep your candle’s surface free of debris like soot and wick trimmings.
Although our candles are kid-safe and pup-safe, keep candles out of reach to prevent accidents.
Light your candle on a stable, heat resistant surface. Keep away from things that can catch fire.

Most importantly, enjoy your truly clean, luxury candle!
